Mighty Car Mods: Chasing Midnight

Moog and Marty - Mighty Car Mods

The guys at Mighty Car Mods have done it again, releasing another of their beautifully shot films. Finding themselves back in Japan for a third time (check out their other Japan drifting YouTube vids), Marty and Moog immerse themselves in Japanese car culture by visiting their drifting buddies, The 88s.

I absolutely love the Japanese attitude towards building custom cars and helping one another out. Mighty Car Mods’ latest JDM drifting film, Chasing Midnight captures this coming together and willing to help perfectly.

Whilst the guys didn’t entirely understand the Jap way in modding cars when it came to slamming and welding the suspension, Marty and Moog end up with a MAAAAD drift car they end up giving back to the 88s after some serious tyre-smoking action.

If you are into car culture, this film is a must.

More Sleeper Action

If you follow my blog you’ll come across some sleeper posts every so often. You either get them and understand the need to drive a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or you simply can’t understand why you would dumb a performance vehicle down. Remove the badges, grills and actually disguise the big exhaust? What, are you crazy?

No.

You see, there’s something smug about out-dragging a Porsche in something deemed only fit for a run to the shops. I love this concept and will build one at some point in my life – perhaps dumb down a wagon of some sort.

To any readers into this sleeper business, I was happy to find the latest edition of Mighty Car Mods on YouTube. These funny Aussies know a thing or three about building a sleeper, and Marty has revealed his new Subaru project. It’s a wagon (with the help of STI components) that can already hit the 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds. The aim is to make it even quicker, to hit the 11 second mark – that’s damn quick for a wagon they affectionately call “Gramps”.

Check out Gramps and tune in to see what this rather affable vehicle will be capable of.

Mighty Car Mods – A Must Watch

mightycarmods

I don’t know about you but I love cars so much, terrestrial TV doesn’t satiate my hunger and need for horse power, racing and sideways action. One YouTube channel I subscribe to and often watch is Hot Rod Magazine’s Road Kill. This I highly recommend if you like big blocks and burnouts; however, if your tastes are more European or Japanese, you need to check out Mighty Car Mods. These two Aussie chaps (Moog and Martin) started their own little mini series set on Martin’s mum’s driveway. They are both naturally funny, offer extremely helpful and insightful tips, and have become so popular in Japan, their series has grown with sponsorships left right and centre.

Here’s my favourite episode to give you a little taste.

Thank god there are guys like these two out there – as much as I love Top Gear, their antics are getting a little tired.
